Declutter It!

Would you wax to save time?

by Jennifer on August 26th, 2008

I read this tip recently about saving time on your bathroom routine - “Wax every 3-6 weeks instead of shave.”

I’m all for saving time sure, but waxing seems so darn painful. Of course this is coming from someone who tends to slice her legs open with razors while attempting to shave, so maybe I’m not one to talk.

What do you think? Are you willing to take on a more painful beauty routine to save time? What?

I would not wax to save time. I do wax my eyebrows every couple of months to help keep shape and then I pluck them in between. I wouldn’t mind waxing other areas, but I can’t stand growing out the hair in between. :-)

Well, I’m having my hair zapped off with lasers. Expensive AND painful. (Actually only painful the first 2-3 times, when you’ve still got a lot of live follicles.) But after several treatments, I hardly have to shave at all. I HATE stubble. And my legs never felt smooth before.

I don’t know if waxing really saves time. You have to let it grow a few cms before you can wax it again so you will have that period wherein you will have stubbles.

I use an electric shaver for my legs. I can shave even when I’m already dressed! Sometimes, I won’t shave thinking that I’d wear pants but I end up changing my mind at the last minute. Electric shaver to the rescue!

While waxing hurts, it’s not unbearably bad, and the pain only lasts for a second or two (as opposed to shaving nicks, which hurt for a few days). Also, the more you wax, the less it hurts, and your regrowth gets noticeably lighter after a while.

Just don’t get a Brazilian within a week either side of your period. Ever.

Try Veet. Lasts almost as long as a wax, doesn’t hurt, and is about as quick as shaving.

I’ve been waxing for over twenty years. It is easy to have done or do yourself. One thing that was suggested years ago to me is to never wax around the time of your period. It will be painful. If you wax after a bath or shower your hair will come out more easily. I can now pull my hair out with my fingers after a shower.

Well I do see how you could save time by waxing or another method of long term hair removal.

But I’m a chicken. Much too painful for me.
