Bulletin Board Solution - Create A Laundry Care Board
Bulletin boards are pretty cool by your desk, or message center, but they’re also great for the laundry room. Grab a bulletin board, some tacks, hang it in the laundry room, and stash the following on it. Make sure to sticky note or white tape label each item, so you don’t forget which item goes with which clothing piece.
- Extra buttons - the ones that come with coats and sweaters.
- Tags you cut off of clothing that note special care requirements.
- Tiny bits of thread - in a wee baggie, or on a hang-easy spool, that match a particular shirt.
- Special clothing care note, on a little note card.
- A tiny pair of thread scissors for when you notice a stray string.
If you’d rather not hang another bulletin board, but still want to save these sorts of items, don’t just toss them in your desk. You know you’ll lose them. Grab an extra recipe card holder, or business card holder, and put all the items in it. This is what I do, plus I actually keep thread and needles in my box. However, I don’t sew much or buy too many special care items; I suggest the bulletin board solution if you buy lots of items that come with extra buttons and such, because it’s easy to see.

I just put the extra buttons and thread into a small plastic storage container that stays in the bathroom. It works great.

I agree, I like small containers for this sort of thing. My aunt though, uses a bulletin board for this type of thing, and actually all sorts of other stuff, and it works well for her.

I use a clear-pocket shoe bag over the door a lot like this. It also holds orphan socks, stain remover sticks, change that I find in the washer, etc.
I love the BB idea - Great idea for storing the care labels.

I really like the bulletin board in the laundry room - I think it might be great since I have kids. I’ve been using and probably still will for some things, a file folder for info on how to remove stains or care requirements for clothing etc. tucked up in the cupboard where the laundry soap is stored.
