Shelving for Shared Sibling Rooms

by Jennifer on April 3rd, 2008

Today we’re going to look at the last shared sibling rooms solution - shelving ideas. We’ve already looked at basics tips some cool room dividers, and sleeping arrangements. Shelving should wrap up our look at shared spaces.

Just like beds, you want your shelving to take up the least amount of room, while providing the most storage possibilities. Think tall thin bookshelves, and shelves attached to walls. Here are some ideas:

Nurseryworks, loom storage system by truck product architecture, is one nice storage solution. It’s tall, with customizable shelves, and a trolley toy storage system fits under the bottom shelf.

Or you could look for something with double sides - like the Tropical Seas Bookcase. This one takes up some room, but it also offers enough space for two kids, so you could cancel out another bookshelf. Plus this bookcase is nice and bright, but you could always re-paint it later for older kids.

Then there’s my favorite child’s storage solution…

Via Toy Boxes: I love these boxes, and kids love boxes too. Other perks include:

  • Sustainable baltic birch plywood and eco-friendly paints and finishes.
  • They connect together in unique configurations to form whatever you like - toy box, closet organizer, baby changing table, toy storage bench, play table, bookshelf, and more.
  • They come with doors or without.
  • Can be attached to the wall to free up floor space.
