Good at Taking Care of My Stuff But Not Myself
As you probably noticed, I haven’t posted here in quite sometime. We had a very busy weekend and then I woke up Sunday morning with a killer sore throat. I pressed on though and garggled with some Listerine (hey, it usually works!!) and by Sunday night I was feeling so down in the dumps I just couldn’t stand it.
To make a long story short, I have been in bed for the past 2 1/2 days sick as a dog. I haven’t been this sick in a very long time. Lately I just haven’t been feeling good and “on top of my game” I guess you could say, and I am realizing it’s because I am really good at taking care of my “stuff” but not myself.
I let myself go and go and go and then crash for a little while….wake up and go and go and go some more. I don’t eat well, have been dealing with insomnia for quite some time now and my poor little dog could use some exercise (oh yeah, and so could I).
What I am trying to say is…it is so easy for us to take care of the stuff on the outside and forget about the stuff we can’t see. You see, to me everything is going just great if everything looks good and I feel everything is in order, like the kids have clean clothes, clean floors, etc., but I forget to focus on me and my health.
So my post for today is to say Let’s Remember to Take Care of Ourselves. I may say to myself I don’t have time to walk today or I don’t have time to go to bed early, but in the end, my time will be taken from me when I am stuck in bed for several days.
The floors and laundry can sometimes wait, my health on the other hand can not. I need to quote that to myself everyday. Okay, my head is spinning. :) I am hoping to be back into full force blogging by tomorrow. After I walk the dog of course.

Mouth wash! Oh no. Julie you do need to take care of yourself — me too. You have some great advice here and I think writers & mamas do tend to fall into the “I come later” trap but it’s so not healthy for us.
I’m glad you’re ok and getting better though.

Thanks guys! I’m starting to feel better. Still playing catch up though. That’s the no fun part.
Hope those of you who aren’t feeling well are getting better. :)

This is such important advice and so easy to forget. Thanks for the reminder that driving yourself sick or crazy in a beautifully organized space is still not a good thing!
