Keeping Away the Clutter for Good
by Julie on March 25th, 2007
This is the hard part. Once you have planned, sorted and stored everything, it actually takes some discipline to keep it that way. The number one rule that will help all of us keep our homes and offices more organized is “put it back where you got it from!” This rule goes for a 3 year old to a 100 year old.
Keeping the Clutter Away for Good
Exchange gifts given to you for gifts that you can actually use.
Learn to say no when someone tries to give you something.
Rein in your hobbies. Resolve not to start another project util you have finished every project you started.
Schedule regular tune-ups for each room in your home.
Purchase an attractive relocate bin or basket for every area of your home. At the end of the day spend a few minutes returning items to proper locations.
Tidy your workspace or living area each time after you are finished using it.
Clean and put away dishes after every meal.
Have your kids put away their toys after playtime is over.
Discard all periodicals after they are a week old.
Those are just some very basic clutter tips. I have many more to share, but this is a good place to start.
