Declutter It!

Hey Texas….Here We Come!

If you have read anything about me, you know that my husband is in the military. He gets out in a few months and we are moving on to new things. Moving. Did I just say moving? That word used to make me and the kids turn pale.

I would turn pale because moving is hard work. The kids would turn pale because that meant new friends, new school, new teachers, new neighborhood and staying in a hotel without any of our stuff for awhile.

But, after the paleness wore off, my excitement kicked in. Why? Because I am telling you, there is no better way to “Declutter It” than to make a move. That’s when my husband and I turn into crazy people with huge black trash bags in our hands. The kids run and try to hide all their toys, our neighbors watch our curb with anticipation and Goodwill smiles and waves when we leave. Okay, maybe we are not that drastic, but people are always amazed at the amount of stuff we don’t have in storage somewhere. We just don’t hold on to things.

So, this brings me to our latest news…We have decided to move from Georgia to Texas. That’s where all my family is and after 9 years of living by no family, we are ready to wash our hands of that. My parents are very excited to say the least! And so are we!

Things are going to get a little crazy around here the next few months. My dad is flying up here in June to drive back to Texas with me, the 3 kids and our dog. I am sure it will be a trip to remember! My husband isn’t coming until a little later (sigh, I’m going to miss him).

So in June I get to figure out how to pack my Pacifica, which has a tiny trunk, with enough stuff to last me and the kids a few months until my husband gets there. Yes, I will mail a few things, but I am going to squeeze as much as I can in that car and still leave room for us to have a place to sit.

My plan is to take you along our little moving journey. How do you get organized for a move? What kinds of things are necessary to get into place before you uproot your family? I’ve been through this a time or two and I think I have gotten pretty good at it.

I will be sure and give you all my moving tips, travelling with 3 kids and a dog tips and how to move and still love your family by the end of it tips.
